Middle Years Coordinator’s Message

Esra Yildirim-Bas

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope that each family enjoyed a refreshing and relaxing term break. Again this term is a busy one and we look forward to sharing our plans and special learning activities through the school newsletter.

First of all I would like to say wow what a fantastic concert! All students looked amazing on stage. Students gave me the impression that they were enjoying themselves and were happy to be on stage.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all teachers and students for putting lots of effort into our end of year primary concert. I would also like to thank the parents who contributed and paid for their child’s costume.

Homework:

We believe that homework is an important part of the learning process for our children. Last term I had some concerns in regards to homework. Some students had difficulties completing online Mathletics tasks and Reading Eggs tasks. Students were complaining that they do not have a internet access at home. If that is the case students can complete their homework at their relative’s house or they can use the local library. This is a hurdle task as students are not receiving any other homework. I expect students to do their best with their homework. I also expect students to do their work on their own and only ask for help after they have put in all their effort. I strongly encourage parents to get involved in supporting their child’s homework activities. Homework is due every Friday and if students choose not to do their homework, I will ask parents to begin checking and signing homework booklet outlines each night. If students still choose not to complete their homework, they will also lose certain privileges. If students do not bring their homework on each Friday I expect a note from parents or they will receive a warning. 5 warnings add to 1 lunchtime detention.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Kind Regards,
Mrs. Esra Yildirim
